Crew Chief - Trip Bruce
The crew chief is a skilled mechanic, a strategizing coach, and an energizing mentor all in one. He is the main leader of the race team and must be able to make the tough decisions during the heat of battle. The responsibility ultimately lies on his shoulders to lead his team to victory!
Spotter - Curtis Markham
The spotter acts as a watchdog for the driver throughout the entire race. He is the driver's "eyes" for areas around the race car that the driver cannot see himself. Some tracks are so large, the team requires an extra spotter.
Tire Changer - Rick Bray/Tim Sheets
There are two tire changers for the #20 Movex/JGR pit crew. One changer is responsible for loosening and tightening the lug nuts for both rear wheels, while the other is responsible for both front wheels.
Tire Carrier - Mikey Drake/Scott Morin
There are also two tire carriers that assist the tire changers. Their responsibilities are to carry and properly place the new wheels, followed by directing the old ones safely back to the pit wall.
Jack Man - Jeff Fender
The jack man is typically the "leader" of each pit stop. It is his job to raise the car so the tires can be replaced. He uses a special rolling jack that is designed to be lightweight, yet powerful, allowing him to raise the car quickly and with minimal effort.
Gas Man - James Gilbert
The gas man is responsible for filling the race car with fuel. He uses a specially designed gas can that is equipped with a customized valve to release the fuel as quickly as possible. He wears extra fire retardant clothing on top of his team suit. The gas cans he must lift can weigh up to ninety pounds when full.
Catch Can Man - Curtis Tincher
This crew member stands behind the car during the pit stop and captures any overflow of fuel from the fuel cell using a special container known as a "catch can." Capturing that overflow can be crucial to a teams strategy, as it can be used when calculating the fuel mileage of the race car.
